I barely slept. All night Iâd been tossing and turning with thoughts of my sexy encounter with Quentin in the office. Under the blankets, I felt hot and bothered. My hands kept wandering down my body, wanting to bring myself to the peak of pleasure once more as I thought about how incredible Quentin felt inside me. I remembered how his body felt as he pushed between my thighs and I was growing dizzy with desire.
After a few more climaxes, I eventually succumbed to sleep.
The next day, I woke up feeling conflicted. The battle waging inside my head made me feel heavy. I was so tired I could hardly get out of bed. In the end, I had to make a decision. I reached for my phone and scrolled through the contacts until I found the person I wanted.
After a few rings, he picked up. âHello?â
âSorry to call you so early, Peter,â I began with a sigh. âI didnât sleep very well last night, so I was just calling to say Iâll be coming in a bit late today if thatâs okay? I promise, Iâll make up the hours.â
âOh, sure, Billie,â Peter replied. âI know youâre good for it. Youâre one of the hardest working people I know! I hope you feel better soon and Iâll see you when you get here.â
âThanks, Peter.â
I hung up the phone feeling a little better that Iâd given myself some time to deal with all the thoughts racing around in my head. After all, what happened yesterday wasnât good. Iâd told my mom I wouldnât get involved with Quentin anymore, but it had all gone out the window as soon as Iâd seen that predatory look in his eyes. I knew what he wanted and deep down, Iâd wanted it too. But that was the problem: it was wrong. Both of us shouldnât be feeling that way. But what could we do to change it?
With a sigh, I pushed off my bed and padded across the apartment toward the kitchen. Lucky was running along beside me, eager to get her breakfast, so I fed her quickly before making myself a cup of coffee and then settling down on the couch. I didnât flick the TV on, however. My own head was enough drama on its own, I didnât need anymore.
It was difficult. If yesterday was anything to go by, it seemed we were bound to come crashing together no matter what â or where for that matter. But there was nothing good that could come from it. Even if I didnât have my motherâs story to worry about, Iâd heard from multiple sources that Quentin was seriously loaded. He was most likely a billionaire if what everyone said was right and that meant he was way out of my league. After all, I was just a small-town girl with mediocre looks whoâd been bullied all her life for being overweight. There was no way Quentin was interested in the long haul with someone like me.
